Alabama business tax deadlines

An Alabama business can owe filings to federal, state, county and city governments, each on its own calendar, and a missed date means penalties and interest. Use this to list every date for your structure through 2027 and add them to your calendar.

What is on it

Federal returns, payroll and information returns. Alabama income, withholding, sales and privilege tax. The state and county business privilege license, the Birmingham city license and the county business personal property return. Choose your structure and what applies to you, and the list keeps only your dates.

Every date has already been moved for weekends and holidays. Payroll tax deposits run on their own schedule and are not listed.

The ones that catch people out

Two licenses with similar names, on different calendars. The state and county business privilege license runs from October to September and is late after the end of October. Birmingham's city license runs on the calendar year and is late after February 15. It is easy to renew one and assume the other is done.

The other is the business personal property return, due to the county assessor by December 31. Alabama now exempts the first $100,000 of value from state property tax, but the return is still required.

Common questions

We have a fiscal year. Does this still apply?

The license, property tax and payroll dates do. Return and estimate dates move with your year end, so ask us for a list built around yours.

Can I get these as reminders?

Use the calendar button to add the dates to your own calendar, with an alert a week before each one.

Important: These dates are a general guide for planning only. They are not tax or legal advice, and using this calendar does not make you a client of Titus CPAs. Your deadlines depend on your business's structure, tax year and filings. Agencies can move dates, for example for weekends, holidays or disaster relief, so a date shown here may not apply to you or may have changed. Dates last reviewed October 2026. Confirm your deadlines with your tax professional or the agency before you rely on them. If you don't have a tax professional, you can contact us.
